REACH 2010
In
October 2007 several members of Friendship participated in a walk-athon
to highlight the perils of breast cancer disease in Black American
women. Emphasis was placed on early detection and mammography
screening.
 May

diagnoses and deaths in African American women, immediate past Cook
County Commissioner, Bobbie Steele, stopped by Friendship Baptist Church
with an important announcement. Women of the church were given
breast cancer awareness ribbons, and were asked to "Pin a Sister" to
show support for breast cancer advocacy. In addition, members of
Friendship Baptist Church were asked to take The Stand Against Cancer by signing a
postcard to Governor Rod Blagojevich urging more funding
for and affordable access to health care providers for breast and

treatment.
